BWH Hotel Group Italy - Procurement Support Intern

Duration:

From July 2022 to December 2022

About Milan...

Known as Italy’s financial and fashion capital, Milan is also a thriving destination for both business and leisure tourism. With its blend of historical landmarks, cutting-edge design, and international events such as Salone del Mobile and Milan Fashion Week, the city attracts millions of visitors each year. Its strong hospitality infrastructure and role as a hub for corporate headquarters make it a strategic location for gaining exposure to large-scale hotel and travel operations.

During this six-month internship at the Ho.Re.Ca. Purchasing Centre of BWH (Best Western) Italy, I provided support in both procurement operations and marketing communication. My main responsibilities included:

- Managing back-office processes for supplier billing and internal documentation

- Assisting with supplier relationship management, from organizing product presentations to coordinating business meetings and site visits

- Overseeing the corporate LinkedIn page for B2B visibility and brand positioning. Supporting the marketing communication of suppliers portfolio.

- Supporting the planning and logistics of the 40th Anniversary Convention of BWH Italy, held in Venice

Here, I enhanced my skills in:

- Project coordination and event organization within a corporate hospitality setting

- Written communication and content creation for professional branding

- Understanding the strategic impact of purchasing decisions on cost efficiency and product quality in hotels

Working from the corporate office, I had the opportunity to look at hospitality from a broader strategic perspective — supporting an entire network of hotels rather than the day-to-day operations of a single property. This vantage point helped me appreciate the value of centralized decisions, brand consistency, and long-term planning, all crucial to sustaining the performance of a hotel chain in a competitive market.

This experience gave me insight into the synergy between procurement, branding, and operations, and taught me to work with precision, autonomy, and a deep awareness of how decisions at corporate level cascade across multiple hotel units.
