As a Finance Trainee in a 5-star resort environment, part of the prestigious Kempinski Hotels — Europe’s oldest luxury hotel group — I’m developing core technical and operational skills in hotel accounting. My responsibilities include handling Accounts Payable processes: verifying and processing supplier invoices, matching them to purchase orders and delivery notes using SUN Accounts, ensuring internal approvals are in place, and supporting timely payment scheduling.
I also contribute to month-end closing activities, assist in reconciliations, and maintain clear communication across departments to ensure accuracy and efficiency in financial reporting. Working within the high service and operational standards of Kempinski has provided me with a solid framework for precision, accountability, and excellence in financial processes.
In this role, I am gaining:
- A precise understanding of financial workflows in luxury hospitality
- Practical experience with accounting systems and internal control procedures
- Exposure to cross-functional collaboration between Finance, Purchasing, and Operations
- Problem-solving skills when managing discrepancies and time-sensitive payments
